Freeschoolin': LARP Lessons
What Aren't We Learning While LARPing?
This past week we had Hope's "Fairy Godparents" staying with us and among many awesome adventures, we got up to some LARPing!
LARP is Live Action Role Play. We use boffer weapons to simulate combat safely and immerse our imagination in the story presented. We had 2 LARP games this week, both of which we had to escape killers. The first was a terrifying game show scenario riddled with intriguing puzzles that we had to solve to escape, all while running from a chainsaw wielding maniac and an wailing escaped convict. Hope's "Fairy Godparents" designed and put on this game. It was so much fun!
The second was a Friday the 13th-esque game called L.A.S.T. Summer where a masked psycho killer "crashed" our kickin' campfire and relentlessly hunted us down. We had to find the elements needed to escape, hide for the duration of the game, or call the police for rescue.
A lot of us died, but all of us had fun play testing this new LARP Freeschoolin' Daddy wrote for our LARP production company, L.A.S.T.. L.A.S.T. stands for Live Action Sport Theatre. Formed in 2010, through L.A.S.T. we provide exciting LARP adventures of all kinds, many for the whole family and always with safety and fun in mind.
Thank you to our wonderful friends who came out to play! We had a blast with you all!
