The Freedom of Freeschoolin'

Are We Free?

There's so much we assume we have to do in life, but step outside society's traditional boxes and eyes are opened. Freeschoolin' opened our eyes. It showed us we don't need bedtimes to get enough sleep. Or traditional Jobs to make a living. We discovered we don't need alarm clocks, the same routine every day or punishments. It taught us that we don't ever need to stop learning. In fact, it's quite impossible to do so. Freeschoolin'/Radical Unschooling has led us to question so many things we were told were absolute. That proper education happens only in school. That we need a teacher for everything. That we would be lazy with no set schedule. It's not only that Hope does not have to go to school that makes Freeschoolin' so amazing. It's what this way of life has done for our whole family and continues to do.

We all sleep when we are tired, eat when we are hungry and do the fun things we love to do each day.

We are elated (no, seriously) to spend every day together, learning and adventuring. Not only can and does Hope delve into any passion she wishes every day, but so can Freeschoolin' Daddy and I.

I get to draw for a living, plan events, LARP, adventure with my horse, talk to people I love, grow an organic garden and Jaze wrestles, is a professional editor and publisher, plays with and trains his dog daily and much more. We both are so grateful to be able to spend everyday learning and growing with our sweet Hope who will be 9 in a few months. (We're planning a big party, stay tuned for that...*grin*) Freeschoolin' is our life. And it's incredible! Thanks for being along on the journey!

This Week Hope has been fighting a cold the last week but when she was feeling a bit better we did some painting, forest walking and sledding out on our land!
