What Can You Learn From Shopping?
Unschoolers are always learning!
So what are we learning when we go shopping? Lots! First we start planning. Our time of departure, weather conditions and of course a shopping list.
We make sure we've eaten, dressed and cared for our hair etc before we leave. We pack refreshments for the road and make sure our animals are secure and cared for while we are gone. -Reading, Math, Writing, Time Management, Body Care, Decision Making, Nutrition, Planning, more... Everyone is buckled in properly and comfortably and away we go!
We talk about sights we see while in the car, sing songs and play games on the way to town.
Because we live in the country, we are diligent about being careful around so many cars while walking around since Hope does not experience this at home. -Safety, Creativity, Navigation, Transportation, Law, Observation Skills, Land Development, more...
Depending on where we stop we could meet a dog at the feed store, use the machine at the bank, visit the dollar store for stickers and pick out organic berries at Goodness Me. We might visit the thrift store, climb a snow hill in the parking lot or check out the toy section at a department store.
-Money Management, Social Interaction, Commerce, Decision Making, Retail Psychology, Marketing, Value Assessment, Risk Assessment, Nutrition, Exercise/Phys Ed, Technology, Community, Animal Studies, more...
Every single moment is an experience to learn from. This is how education works through Freeschoolin'/Unschooling and how even a during a shopping trip, school is always in session!
