Freeschoolin' Summer Subjects

As a Freeschoolin' Family, we are learning the whole year through!

This week we experienced a lot of things we can only do in the warmer weather.

The temperature was great for hitting up two different beaches. The first was Centennial Beach in Barrie, Ontario. It's busier than we are used to, but the water was amazing.

Then we adventured to our favorite local beach, Bayview Memorial Park, in Oro-Station, Ontario for a peaceful picnic.

It finally dried up enough (though we did use wet wood) to have a campfire dinner! We feasted upon Ontario caught whitefish and organic sweet potatoes in the cast iron skillet.

It was perfect for some riding on our rescue horse, River (21) as well! He's often ridden bareback (no saddle) and is always barefoot (no horseshoes) and bitless (no bit used). He loves to give pony rides, eat carrots and get deep neck scratches.

Last, but definitely not least, we volunteered at Big Curve Acres! We hand grazed "Whistle" the pony, held piglets and helped visitors safely hold chicks and baby bunnies. Harry the Camel even came to say hello!

I remember when we first entertained the idea of home education and how afraid we were that we couldn't measure up to school. Now, the curriculum of school holds no weight in comparison to what we learn everyday from life. The fear is gone and all that remains is joy. This is our Freeschoolin' Life!
