School is a Tsunami
School is like going to the beach for a dip and getting a Tsunami in your face. As an adult, if I want to learn something, I research that thing. I don't try to learn 20 new things at once. With polar opposite subject ranges. In front of my peers. That would be overwhelming. And I like to set myself up for success. In school, students, who are often not ready, are bombarded with so much to learn at once and many don't cope with it well. Why? Why must we force this square peg into a round hole? This is why we're Freeschoolin'. We want Hope to love learning. We want her to see it as the key to all her goals and dreams. To think of education as a friendly tool that she can use her whole life long, freely, anytime, anywhere.
This Week
Hope took a fancy to The Hobbit so Freeschoolin' Daddy has been reading to her every night and even in the morning. We hit up some mall rides while out doing errands in town. Amazing Radical Unschooling friends came to visit us so we played, feasted and connected until we we were all tuckered out. We also had a game night with sweet friends and their kiddos where Hope played and even got to meet their Hamster, Birthday Cake. A sunset wagon ride and snow mountain climb topped off one of our nights this week. We're so glad for the light we still get by 8pm. SUBJECTS: Physics, Socialization, Problem Solving, Animal Care, Reading, Drawing, Time Management, Math, Resource Management, Creative Thinking, Physical Education, Nutrition, Nature Studies, Technology, Emotional Intelligence, Geography, Transportation, Retail, Budgeting and so much more! #nevernotlearning
