Freeschoolin' with No Power
We truly are #NeverNotLearning!
This past week was so full of learning experiences; like every week when we're Freeschoolin'! Our family lives in the country, and we do not have a traditional playground, so every chance possible we hit up the parks in the cities nearby. It was finally warm enough to visit the park of Hope's choice.
And then, this past weekend, the power went out due to a powerful windstorm that passed through. We not only had no power, but no running water as we are on a well system. Knowing this, when the storm hit Freeschoolin' Daddy filled the bathtub for washing, cleaning and barn water. We also had 12 gallons of drinking water stored for emergencies in glass jugs. Emergency candles and a 30hr flashlight kept us seeing all night long and the campfire fed us while we waited for the power to return. To pass the time Hope got creative and we all enjoyed several board games together, as well as reading stories and making new cozy spots out of kitchen chairs.
Freeschoolin' Daddy had to work and we needed some groceries. We borrowed a truck, did our errands and dropped him off, so Hope and I could get dinner going on the fire. First we tended to our horse and then we made our very own fireplace in our campfire pit and Hope built most of the fire that cooked our meals of organic, grassfed burgers. We also had delicious organic corncake. Our handywork was successful!

No matter what we experience in life, we can learn so much from it!

A Note The power outage and few other projects and issues we have dealt with impaired our ability to post and share our happenings regularly this last 2 weeks.
