Why We Chose A Freeschoolin' Life
Life Is A Journey
When Freeschoolin' Daddy and I started this life together over 9 years ago, we had NO idea where it would take us. It started with Hope's birth and us realising that we didn't want to put Hope in school when the time came. By the time she was 2, we were solid on this and started to research homeschooling. We discovered Unschooling. Radical Unschooling. First it was a few videos from Sandra Dodd and then I found Dayna Martin. While we don't align specifically with those people, we gleaned much and knew the life learning path was for us.
We let Hope lead on everything that was not safety related. And she thrived. We had none of the conflict of toddlerhood I remember with my firstborn. Turns out, no matter the age, we all despise arbitrary rules. I am a visual learner so we searched for what Unschooling LOOKED like, but there weren't many resources out there, so we decided to share our journey to support other visual learners looking for examples of a radical unschooled life. Freeschoolin' was born.
The more we let go of how traditional school looks, the more we see how learning actually happens and the more confidence we gain in living this outside the box life in mainstream society. John Holt, The Unschool Dad, Pam Laricchia, and Happiness is here are great resources we tap into now.

Hope has taught herself her letters, numbers, the words she can read and write, her art, her emotional intelligence, her facts on animals, her problem solving skills, her body strength and so much more. No curriculum needed. No stress. Just living and discovering each day's events together.
#NeverNotLearning. We didn't calculate this, we just followed the love. And it led us to Freeschoolin'.
