🖥 Freeschoolin' Speaks and Shares

LOCKDOWN SLOWDOWN

For the first time in forever, I have no pictures to share of our week! We are not even a week into our Province's Pandemic Lockdown and we wanted to avoid meeting people's initial stress so we have stayed in and made our home our world.

And We Stayed In

Getting out and active is important but we give ourselves the freedom to follow the rhythm that feels best. This week we spent a lot of time bonding. Jaze and I started a computer game of Heroes of Might and Majesty together that we play in between house chores that has not only been fun, but has also been really helpful with motivation. Hope has been joining in with our friend's weekly online D&D Campaign and having a blast pretending to be a hairless catperson that shoots tornadoes from her hands.

We've put the holiday decorations away, worked on freshening the house with cleaning and organizing and Hope has taken new interest in cooking. Last night she made organic chicken fingers from scratch ( I really wish I'd of taken a picture! ) with me. When she ate the meal she had cooked, she beamed with victory at her accomplishment, and found it delicious. Looking forward to more fun in the kitchen with Hope!

We are an energy sensitive family so even though we stayed in to avoid taking on stress from the outside world during this time, it finds it's way in through our hearts. To cope, our days are spent doing what brings us joy and taking it slow without comparison to what other families are doing. Hope has been Reverse Cycling (more info here) so Jaze and I tag team based on our own sleeping habits. He stays up as late as he can with Hope and I am up before dawn, so she's really never up alone more than a few hours. Jaze spent many, MANY hours playing pretend with Hope, figuring out new video games, playing in the snow, watching funny shows and even doing chores. This week Hope decided to help out with the laundry!

Hope has discovered a new love of ferrets! She's been roleplaying ferrets, drawing ferrets, colouring ferrets and even asked for a plush ferret. Jaze and I helped her get online and look for what she wanted, she picked it out and was absolutely delighted when it arrived, looking just like she had hoped. Wherever she goes, the ferret goes. I suspect this will last a while...lol.

I don't worry if what we do with our days is "enough". Life is enough. You can't stop the learning.
