🎈NOT Not Back To School
Happy Not Back To School Homeschoolers! Sort of... This year we can't exactly celebrate the way we usually do and there is much apprehension going into the homeschool year. Usually we have many trips planned, meetups and events. Too many to choose from! Everyone is a buzz with getting in plenty of homeschool socializing before the snow flies and we have a blast together. But this year, we are restricted in so many ways it can be overwhelming. There is fear in the air that has never been before and we are charged with finding new ways to connect with our homeschool community in the wake of it all. We won't lose heart! Our creative, outside the box thinking is exactly what is needing during times like these.
Here are some ideas to help you get together with folks for homeschool socialization: (Use your own discretion and area laws to determine what socialization practices your family will apply.) Big Groups -beach -forest hike -playground -apple orchard
-conservation area -outdoor crafts (bring your own supplies)
-nature scavenger hunt Small Groups -campfires
-home playdates
-outdoor slime lab -outdoor kitchen play
-outdoor hide and seek game
-pond dipping -kite flying
-local farm visit
We love Unschooling/Freeschoolin' because it teaches us to learn from everything around us, every situation and every challenge. So when times are difficult, when the schools are closed, the learning never stops. It continues on our whole lives through.
This Week
We explored a new to us park in our local area and had a blast swinging, spinning and playing grounders as a family. We all won because it was seriously the best time. To finish our evening off we walked the park path and discovered the beautiful nature all around. Words and pictures just don't do it justice; this was such a magical time together. Our social bubble includes a wonderful family whose farm we work with them on and we're grateful for all we learn when we are there. We visited with beloved homeschool friends and enjoyed every second of fun we had with them!!!!! Because of covid and privacy concerns we are opting not to share pics, much to our disappointment. Thanks for understanding and expect some drawings in the near future to compensate for what I can't share in pictures. The stories will be told! Hope's Fairy Godparents arrived and are staying with us for a while so we've been enjoying time together at the barn and more. River, our 24 yr old rescue horse, has been loving snacks..er, walks around the property and the visitors who've come recently to feed him grass and take pictures with him. His abusive racing days are so far behind him I think he barely remembers not being adored and fawned all over by everyone who comes to say hello.
