✋Freeschoolin': Touching Moments
We are living in unprecedented times.
While online connections are stronger than ever, in person socializing has never been harder or more confusing. There are so many different and passionate opinions of what is going on with the world and many are uninterested in the conflict of it all. It is a lot to digest for everyone. Our family is very dedicated to respecting boundaries people have for safety, yet we are extremely concerned about the impact of the of lack physical contact with our community.
It is unlikely we would not lose a vital part of what makes us human should the majority of people enter into a sterile, no contact society long term. We are not a one size fits all people. So our solutions to big world problems can never be one for all. It ends up needing to be a collection of us all doing what we think is right and meeting in the middle with the common goal of thriving on this planet together. For us, we are not interested in mask wearing and social distancing for visits with friends and family we know are safe to connect with. We faithfully comply with all rules when shopping at stores and in public but with our social bubble, as long as it's safe, we are not giving up touching moments. They are what we live for.
This Week We visited our friends at Earth Valley Organics to pick up some fresh produce ( it pays to live close by ), spelt flour and yeast, all certified organic. Hope played with human and duck friends, gave her favourite horse a big ol' hug and really didn't want to leave. Neither did we as it is not only a magical place, but the people are just top notch. It is a reward I don't have words for that we are connected to the Kramarchuck Family. We road tripped to help our beloved unschool friends with their house as they are planning on a big northern yurt adventure and needed to get their home ready to put on the market. I didn't get a single pic, but it was super fun to work together and Hope had a blast with their goat herd. Every day this week but Saturday, we went swimming at our local beach. Hope can swim on her own now in deep water and it's absolutely mind blowing. I am a former private lifeguard so water safety to me is vital. I am sharing all I know with Hope to empower her in the water. I have even demonstrated a rescue hold on her so that if she ever does get into trouble and I need to pull her to safety, she will not fight me when I apply it. Now we (me, lol) are relaxed in the water and can just continue to build on her breath and muscle stamina. River, our rescue horse, got a few cold sponge baths to cool down from the mega heat we've had lately. He's a senior horse so we make sure life is as easy as possible for him. It is very adorable to watch him blow bubbles in the water bucket, wishing he could jump in.
