Snowschooling!
Snowed In
Our area near Barrie, Ontario, Canada got 50 cm of snow in 2 days this past week! The roads were so bad the police was asking everyone to stay home...and we did. Days before the storm, Hope (9) got her first illness of the winter; a big change from last year when we couldn't go 3 weeks without her being sick with something. Last year, Hope also decided to go trick or treating for the first time and eat all her booty afterward. Since, then, Hope sees so clearly how her body reacts to certain food items and avoids them.
While sick Hope learned about the natural healing elements we use in our family such as quality baking soda and real salt gargles, eucalyptus oil and bone broth. She also learned about being responsible while sick and agreed to cancel a long awaited event with our homeschool community. Within a few days she was well enough to enjoy the snow that fell.
Hope tried snowshoeing for the first time, now that her feet are big enough to fit our snowshoes. She had a great time learning how to keep her balance and walk in the deep drifts with me. We sledded, thanks to Hope's Fairy Godmother, Sarah, who lent us her childhood sled. Hope dug a "bunny burrow" in the snow pile near our home which we came back to play in again. #snowschooling
Hope became more interested in helping out at Earth Valley Organics again this week. She insisted on helping water the horses and sweeping out the barn. We never force Hope to do chores or work. It is always her choice. #barnschooling
Reverse Cycling has ended, so on Sunday we had a big family breakfast at Hope's request that included daddy's homemade organic sprouted whole wheat and spelt bread and all organic apples, eggs and bacon!
