Freeschoolin': Learning To Read Naturally
She's not a late reader.
Yet, our 9 year old daughter Hope currently cannot read full sentences or many words.
It's begun, the process of her learning to read, but she's focused on other things so far.
Like emotional intelligence, animal studies, technology, camping, roleplay, volunteering, art, engineering and so much more. Hope is far from missing out and has been gathering the foundation of reading and writing along the way.
Our family reads books together, we notice words all around us and Jaze and I set the example by being avid readers and writers ourselves. Hope draws and writes some words all because she wants to.

When Hope is ready, she will dive into reading.
Because when we love learning, no barrier will hold us back from finding out what we want to learn about. Whether it's walking, talking, reading, writing, sports or science. Unfettered human beings naturally love to discover and explore.
We like to write down everyday what Hope IS learning to give us record and confidence that this path is the best possible education for our family. The Freeschoolin' Journal is perfect for me to record all our adventures and learning opportunities and The Freeschoolin' Picture Journal is ideal for Hope to draw, write, cut and paste or sticker in for her own account of her homeschool days.
This Week We had our 5th annual organic apple picking trip to Avalon Orchards! Thank you so much to this wonderful farm for hosting our Un/Homeschool Club and all the club members who made it out to have fun with us!
Afterward, we played a LARP in the Park with those who wanted to join us.
We needed to take our car to the shop after hitting a bump on a country road so we hit up Craft Auto, thrift shopped while we waited and before long, were merrily on our way thanks to our mechanic's amazing service.
And last, but certainly not least, our organic Freeschoolin' Tshirt that we ordered for Hope arrived!
