Our Freeschoolin Journal
How Do We Keep Track Of Unschooling?
At the beginning of our Freeschoolin' journey, Hope was 3 and we were very unsure of how we would educate at home, let alone keep records. I had always kept a personal journal on and off, so I was drawn to start journaling our Freeschoolin' days. My First 2 were just lined journals from Walmart or the Dollar Store, and they worked just great. I could easily go back through the pages and recall what we had done in the format I had used and 80 pages worked for an entire year or more. I really wanted to share with others how easy this kind of record keeping worked for home educating, and we had already published our first children's book, "Freeschoolin': Life Is My School", so the idea for The Freeschoolin' Journal started to form and become a reality. I designed the format and drew new adorable illustrations for each of the more than 80 pages I would include. The cover and back was created to inspire and uplift home educators as they record their family's learning adventures.
We are just finishing up our first full Freeschoolin' Journal which we recorded in nearly every day, save a few here and there. We started it in May 2018 so there is more than enough room for a school year. It's small and easy to whip open and jot down point form notes of things we did each day.
I know I made it, but I really do love The Freeschoolin' Journal and how simple it is to keep track of our unschooled life. Coming Soon We just ordered the proof of our NEW Freeschoolin' Picture Journal that will be available this Fall! The Freeschoolin' Picture Journal is for anyone who wants to record their days, not only with writing but with blank space for drawings, stickers or cut and paste. It's great encouragement for all ages of students (adults too) to get creative with journaling and perfect for kids who aren't into writing or reading yet to get excited about the journal habit. Each of the 80 pages features new illustrations and even contains bonus colouring pages at the back.
Journaling should be fun to do and easy to look back on for reference and we designed The Freeschoolin' Picture Journal and The Freeschoolin' Journal with this in mind. Stay tuned for announcements of the NEW Freeschoolin' Picture Journal release date! This Week
It was the last week that Big Curve Acres was open to the public so we spent 3 days there instead of our regular 2. I did an illustration for them in appreciation of the amazing years we've spent there so far. Can't wait for Summer 2020. Our car is experiencing some expensive issues so that took up much of our time aside from volunteering.
