What We Learn In A Week

What does our Freeschoolin' Family learn in a week?

Come along with our family through each day of this past week as we list the subjects we learned about and share lots of pictures!

Sunday

Scales Nature Park, a reptile facility, had a free admission day and a really cool flashlight tour so we adventured about 15 minutes away that evening to find the park. We got lost, I got stressed, we learned a lot and then we had a great time discovering and handling the various animals that Scales features. There was also Lego and Roleplay fun that day. Subjects: Animal Science and Handling, Navigation, Emotional Processing, Social Skills, Discovery, Fear Management, Critical Thinking, Engineering, Bonding, so much more.

Monday Freeschoolin' Daddy's Birthday! We decorated the house and gathered needed items from town for a fun home party, including an organic pizza for dinner. For dessert, we had a homemade chocolate cake and cupcakes with whipped chocolate frosting, all organic of course. Hope got into some sticker and marker art and played toys, both independently and with Daddy. Subjects: Sharing, Giving, Celebrations, Science, Math, Food Preparation, Nutrition, Social Skills, Exploring, Creative Thinking, Art, Bonding, Resource Management, Planning Skills, so much more.

Tuesday Low Key. We watched Halloween shows together, roleplayed, carved pumpkins and Hope did an independent pom pom craft she saw on Youtube.

Wednesday Halloween! We were invited to our first family party and we had an absolute blast. One of the children made an escape game to play, there was an amazing almost all organic food spread and we had so much fun visiting and checking out a nearby haunted house. Hope trick or treated for the first time and had such an awesome night with her friends. As did Jaze and I!

Thursday We rested this day after such excitement the night before. Lots of Youtube, some Minecraft and roleplay with toys. Hope discovered what Halloween Candy was all about.

Friday

Gathering. We run an Escape Adventure game and so we were preparing for the next day's Event. A quick grocery shop, paper work, cleaning and energy clearing was most of our day.

Subjects: Resource Management, Event Planning, Goal Setting, Energy Management, Self Care, Social Skills, Decision Making, Home Management, Working Together, so much more.

Saturday

Game Day! A late night before made for a late morning, so we utilized the time left to cook, do the rest of the cleaning and set up the game for play. 6pm-12am was spent driving folks to and from game, trying to escape Michael Myers (played by Freeschoolin' Daddy) and enjoying the Players company during the after game snack/wind down.

Sunday Recharge. After such fun, we needed to clear and renew our energy so we relaxed and watched a movie together and enjoyed some Animal Jam, Youtube and pretend play. Subjects: Energy Management, Self Care, Awareness, Connection, Free Play, Group Roleplay, Technology, Reading, Goal Setting, so much more.
