💓Creating Community During Covid

People need people.

The impact of Covid 19 on our social life has been substantial. If it weren't for our creative, outside-the-box thinking, our little family of 3 would be quite isolated indeed.

How We Create Community Use online platforms to gather like minded people virtually. I know that Facebook is not a fond moral choice but it really is an incredible platform to build and join community during this time of separation. Use whatever method you are comfortable with to reach out to others and form some online community. Make events that work for attendees and do not risk your group being found in violation of Covid 19 restrictions. Whether you seek a small meetup at between 2 families or a group of a few families, use social media, email, texting and the like to create events that will be fun and safe for all guests. Outdoor events are usually pretty easy to plan so get out and have a blast together!

Be inclusive. We live in a world of so much diversity. Their are countless opportunities to get to know people outside our regular social circle and as long everyone is respectful, it's a wonderful experience for not only our kids, but parents too! We have met so many of our dearest friends attending all inclusive group meetups, many of them with vastly differing views than ours. There's no need to segregate. Let's congregate!

This Past 2 Weeks Wix is shifting their blog platform which has caused a lot of technical issues for me, hence the 2 week sabbatical. Our family has been putting together a haunted escape trail and we're finally ready for visitors! Looking forward to sharing some pics of it in action. Hope, Jaze and Myself have been riding, harvesting and our whole family (including Kevin and Sarah who are living with us) even got to witness the most beautiful double rainbow all the way across the sky. It was quite magical. We currently have 260 lbs of potatoes harvested, among other crops, so it's been a great year for our organic garden. Our friends at Earth Valley Organics lost their herd matriarch, Nikki (28) and we were lucky enough to be gifted not only her sweetness while she was alive but a lock of her mane to keep forever. Run on sweet Nikki. Sending love to the humans and horses who loved you so much. We volunteered out in the open fresh air with their family, enjoying every bit our time together.

Jaze and Hope tried out a kite she was gifted by her Fairy Godparents, Kevin and Sarah, and while they had fun trying it out, it was short lived and flew away suddenly after they had only been using it a short while. Hope was good spirited, looking on the bright side that they were lucky to have had the kite experience at all.

Hope's Gramma and Aunt visited for a safe, outdoor visit on one of the only sunny and reasonably warm days. They have been coming more often which warms my heart. Estrangement has been a common theme in our family and we're hopeful to cease that pattern.

Dog training has been something Hope has become suddenly interested in, so she has focused on working with our rescue dog Sonic. It's going just wonderfully; she has a natural gift with animals.

We made a toasty campfire and Hope enjoyed roleplaying with Jaze at our campsite in the dark for a spooky effect. Of course Hope has been drawing up a storm, watching Youtube, playing Spore, Animal Jam and Minecraft and roleplaying every chance she gets, either with someone or independently with her toys.
